In early 2008, Northeast Rehab became an official evaluation and
demonstration site for the AmTryke.
An
AmTryke is designed to give children with disabilities their first set
of wheels. The AmTryke - hand and/or foot powered, improves motor
coordination, increases self-esteem and best of all, it's fun to ride.
Interested families may set up an appointment to bring a child into
the Salem Outpatient Pediatric Clinic to test-drive an AmTryke.
Therapists will be on hand to determine which bike and adaptations are
appropriate. If the family is unable to purchase a bike, the child
can be placed on the AmTryke wish list.

Northeast Rehabilitation Health Network is one of only a handful of
organizations in New England that is an official evaluation and
demonstration site for the AmTryke equipment. Volunteer chapters
are needed in the New Hampshire area. Go to
www.ambucs.org to learn more about
how to become a volunteer.
