Expand Your Horizons with the iBOT Mobility System

Enjoy new opportunities with the revolutionary INDEPENDENCE® iBOT® 4000 Mobility System. The iBOT® Mobility System has a combination of features that is unlike any wheelchair or scooter ever created. Since its introduction to the general public in 2003, the INDEPENDENCE® iBOT® Mobility System has created greater awareness of providing equal accessibility to people with disabilities.

Northeast Rehab became an iBOT® Evaluation Center in 2005 because we believe in empowering people with mobility-related disabilities to freely go where they want to go, helping satisfy the natural human desire for mobility and freedom.

Independence Technology, a Johnson & Johnson company developed the iBOT® 4000 and has chosen to work with Northeast Rehab because of our dedication to providing cutting-edge technology and innovation to consumers throughout new England.

The iBOT® Mobility System offers a unique combination of five functions:

  1) The 4-Wheel Function enables you to climb curbs as high as five inches and to travel over grass and gravel, through sand and across other forms of uneven terrain.

  2) The Balance Function of the IBOT® Mobility System can raise you to eye level for business or social interactions, even when you are on the move. The Mobility System enables you see over counters, and reach high shelves in the office, kitchen or supermarket, safely and easily.

  3) The Standard Function enables you to move around indoors or outdoors, just as today’s current power chairs do. You can approach challenging surfaces such as thick carpet or doorsills with ease. However, unlike typical wheelchairs, when you’re traveling in your iBOT® Mobility System and encounter what used to be considered an obstacle, the iBOT® lets you easily switch out of Standard Function and into whichever function fits the challenge.

  4) The Stair Function enables you to take on the challenge of steps and stairways with confidence. With the INDEPENDENCE® iBOT® Mobility System, you will feel secure climbing or descending a couple of steps, or even a full flight of stairs — indoors or out — on your own or with assistance. With input from you or an assistant, the iBOT® Mobility System utilizes gyroscopes and adjusts to the driver’s center of gravity, climbing stairs by rotating wheels up and over each other.

  5) The Remote Function allows you to detach the User Control Panel and maneuver the iBOT® Mobility System unoccupied up a ramp and into a vehicle for transportation.
