Reconditioning Program

Program Philosophy and Goals

The Reconditioning Program at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) is designed to meet the comprehensive rehabilitation needs for cardiac, pulmonary, and medically or surgically complex individuals.  An interdisciplinary team of professionals from various disciplines strives to maximize the individual’s functional level through intensive therapies and patient and family education. Patients and family members are considered part of the team, and are included as an integral part of the program.

Scope of Service

The Reconditioning Rehabilitation Team strives to educate individuals and their families regarding their surgeries or disease processes, as well as how to function within their physical limitations.  In addition to the expert rehabilitative services provided by the Reconditioning Team, specialized medical consultation is available in the areas of cardiology, endocrinology, infectious disease, vascular medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, neurology, orthopedics, pain management, as well as additional specialties.  Throughout the continuum of care, there is consistent communication with referring physicians and the acute care rehabilitation team as necessary.
