Orthotic Clinic

This multidisciplinary clinic includes a physiatrist (rehabilitation doctor), physical therapist and a certified orthotist. The clinicians evaluate for and fit custom splints, braces, and devices that enhance function in weakened or dystonic/spastic limbs or the spine. Our dedicated clinicians pay special attention to cosmetic issues, maintenance, and re-evaluation of the need for continued splinting.

  • Spinal bracing
  • Lower extremity orthotics
  • Custom shoe inserts
  • Dynamic upper extremity splinting
  • Static upper extremity splinting (e.g. resting splint for use during part or most of each day)
  • Adjustments of existing splints
  • Repair/replacement of damaged or worn bracing

Prosthetic Services

Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital provides a comprehensive approach to prosthetic management. A team of health care professionals, including the physiatrist, a physical therapist, and an ABC certified prosthetist, work with the patient and family to meet both medical and prosthetic needs. We use the latest advancements in technology to work to attain the highest level of functional ability for every patient.

  • Evaluation for prosthetic needs and second options
  • Assessment of problematic areas of the patient's limb and skin condition
  • Assessment of problem areas with the correct prosthesis
  • Education on prosthetic care and management

  • Periodic ongoing reassessments to ensure optimal fit and function of the prosthesis
  • Skin care education for diabetic patients
  • Rigid Removable Dressings for limb shaping and protection.
