Sammy has a new bike for Spring!

Sammy on his bikeSammy began attending physical therapy at Northeast Rehab many years ago, most recently attending therapy at our Tewksbury clinic with Sarah Prime, DPT. Sammy enjoys coming to his therapies at Northeast Rehab and hugging all the girls as well as working on independent walking, standing, and bouncing on the physioball to increase his core strength. Sammy and his family’s goal is for him to walk independently!

This fall Sarah attended an abilities expo and reconnected with a local Freedom Concepts Rep that specialized in adaptive bikes. Sarah was lucky enough to have a bike delivered to the Tewksbury Clinic to trial with many different children. When Sammy first road the bike his face lit up and he laughed throughout the whole ride! Riding the bike has been a treat for Sammy after all his hard work during his physical therapy sessions.

Sammy on his bikeThis winter Sarah entered a video contest with a south shore real-estate agent (Julie Etter) to win money towards a charity or a cause close to her heart. Sarah sent in her one minute video on why ALL children deserve a bike and found out a few weeks later that she WON! With the money from Julie’s donation and the Stephen Baum Foundation, Sammy is now the proud owner of his very own adaptive bike, just in time for Spring!
