Parkinson’s wellness recovery (PWR) was founded for the purpose of translating cutting edge research on exercise and brain change into a care model for people living with Parkinson’s disease.
This care model, known as PWR! Exercise4BrainChange®, begins at diagnosis and continues throughout the life of the individual. The goal is to coordinate medical and rehabilitation goals with community-based exercise programs and wellness resources to allow anyone living with Parkinson’s disease to stay active and healthy for as long as possible.
This model incorporates essential research principles about “how” to exercise to optimize brain health (neuroprotection), brain change (neuroplasticity) and function. It is based on clinical research in motor control, motor learning and exercise physiology.
Northeast Rehab is proud that we have certified trained clinicians in both PWR! and LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) to help maximize the benefit to individuals with Parkinson’s disease. We work with each individual to develop a plan of care that incorporates all the newest and best research options to promote increased mobility and quality of life for all participants.
