Patient Coaches
Patients recovering from a brain injury and admitted with orders for close or distant supervision, may be offered the unique services of a patient coach. These members of the rehab team perform the safety duties and much more.
Our patient coaches:
- Monitor the patient and maintain the patient’s safety as they progress through the rehab process
- Follow any established behavior plans and maintain a therapeutic environment for the patient when they are not in therapy
- Provide staff to staff and shift to shift communication of the patient’s behavior/plan to ensure continuity of care
- Facilitate use of the Extra Activities Folder which was developed to provide activities a patient can do with someone or alone to make use of free time. This tool is used to enhance recovery and/or avoid boredom that may lead to negative behaviors
